god wept and the devil laughed

‘God Wept and the Devil Laughed’ follows two characters from the sell-out hit ‘The Play That Killed Me,’ Ken and Lewis, on their own incredible wartime journey: from their youths in the idyllic Ribble Valley, through to war in North Africa and Italy, and on to the gruesome liberation of Bergen-Belsen. It is not a sequel that requires having seen the first play!

Inspired by the writer’s family, this follow-up production to an extraordinary story is a moving exploration of family and courage in a time of conflict, and the love and laughter that knits people together as they rescue each other from the deepest despair. It is a story about the sacrifices everyone makes when a world goes to war.

The production is the second for Come As You Arts North West at The Lowry.
